3 BODY QIGONG -March into Spring - Class Description

As we March into Spring, let’s move forward with a positive plan to improve our health and find a place of peace and happiness within. This session will focus on winter and spring movements. As we come out of our winter hibernation, we look to ground ourselves, preparing for the explosion of energy as the earth begins to wake up in spring. This is a time we can feel like we are sleepwalking, physically and emotionally, trying to shake off the heaviness of winter and longing for spring. Eat well, rest well, and practice 3 Body Qigong. It’s all preventive maintenance for your body!

3 Body Qigong is a mind/body practice based in Traditional Chinese Medicine, combining Korean Tao, modern qigong practices, energy healing practices, and sound/music meditation. On Wednesday, January 3, I will offer a special instructional class that will focus on breaking down and practicing the new movements for the winter session, as well as focusing on some of our regular movements.  I  will also explain more about how these movements relate to Traditional Chinese Medicine in the winter months as a source of balancing and harmonizing your energy. In the winter season, the organ associated with that time are your Kidneys. The element is water.  We will talk about how best to navigate this season through the movements, the best foods to eat to support your kidneys, and other tips to keep you happy and healthy.  If you sign up for the 7-week session, this class is free. Drop-ins pay $15.  This class will be recorded and available for one week.


3 BODY QIGONG for WINTER - Class Description

As we settle into winter, we just want to just curl up on the couch and hibernate, but now is the time to begin storing more energy. This winter session will focus on movements to store more energy in the kidneys, the organ associated with the winter season. The kidney stores reserve energy called “pre-natal Qi” which is inherited from your parents. When another organ is low on energy, the kidney sends it an extra Qi boost from this inheritance. The emotion that is associated with the kidneys is fear. If anxiety or fear feels heightened at this time, your body may be trying to tell you that kidney energy is running low or is imbalanced. This class will help balance and harmonize your body's energy. So, join us this winter to keep your body functioning well. Eat well, rest well, and practice 3 Body Qigong. It’s all preventive maintenance for your body!

I hope you will join us for this special night as we come together for our annual end-of-year meditation.  We will reflect on the goals we had for 2023 as we move forward and set our intentions for what we really want for 2024.

This year, all proceeds from this special event will be donated to Doctors Without Borders to help men, women and children suffering around the world. Join us by offering healing and medical support to those in need.

We will add specific movements to help balance and harmonize our lungs and large intestines, organs associated with the Fall season according to Traditional Chinese Medicine seasonal practice. The whole class will serve as preventive maintenance to help keep your physical and energy bodies operating efficiently by keeping your immune system healthy and strong. Through breathwork and meditation, you will find a peaceful place inside yourself and bring a smile to your face and peace in your heart.

Re-Discovering Your True Self

Have you ever wondered, IS THIS ALL THERE IS TO THIS LIFE? 

Who am I?  What do I really want? When was the last time you asked yourself those questions?  In this workshop, we will move past the idea that we are just physical beings living in this physical world and begin a journey to re-discover the inner world of our true selves.  Our journey will include looking at the outside world, the physical world of our thinking mind and ego, and move toward our inner world, the place of our true self, a place of love, peace, joy, and clarity.  Using lecture, meditation, and sharing, we will pass through experiences and feelings that have been blocking us and holding us back from re-discovering who we really are and what we really want. As you re-discover your true self, you will begin to see the same world from a different view, a place where the clouds have moved away and your true self shines through once again. 

Things to bring:  Paper (or notebook) and pen, a handheld mirror, water, Light Lunch or snack (there will be a 30-minute break), Yoga Mat (optional)

As we move into late summer, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, we will be focused on our stomach which is most affected by worry, anxiety, or overthinking. The stomach is responsible not only for digesting food and liquid but also for digesting your emotions and thoughts. Through tapping, meridian stretching, meditation and practicing feeling energy, we will balance and harmonize our body for this time of year which is about grounding our body and mind and balancing our energy. Summertime is upon us!  Time to get out in the sun, in the water, into the forest, and into your heart. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the organ we support in summer is our heart.  Did you know that the heart is considered the king of all organs? This means that all the other organs will sacrifice for the Heart. In other words, they will always give their energy to help the heart maintain its balance.   That is why we will practice movements for balancing our heart energy as well as our usual weekly full-body movements.  (preventive maintenance). Practicing 3 Body Qigong for summer can offer you a way to keep your heart energy healthy and balanced, for a peaceful, loving, and joyful summer!

3 Body Qigong - Healthy Body-Happy Heart Series... SPRING SESSION

As we March into Spring, let’s move forward with a positive plan to improve our health and find a place of peace and happiness within. Our practice in this session will focus on winter and spring movements, as we come out of our hibernation of winter and look to ground ourselves, physically and emotionally for spring.

This session will begin with a workshop that will focus on the question, what is Qi and what is the meaning of gong? We will explore how Qigong is connected to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as a healing tool to help keep us balanced and in a state of harmony. You will get a better perspective of why we do certain movements seasonally and how you are a part of the natural world.  The workshop will be followed by 7 weeks of classes to help you go deeper into the 3 body practice:  Physical body, energy body, and spiritual body.

The workshop; will include lecture and an instructional qigong class.

The classes:   7 weeks of full 3 Body Qigong practice to create a positive habit in your daily life.  The classes will include body tapping, meridian stretching, feeling and balancing your energy, and music meditation.

As we leave another year behind, let's move forward with a positive plan to improve our health and find a place of peace within ourselves. This new 8-part series to start the new year will begin with a 2-hour workshop to learn how to become aware and clear out any stress or negative energy built up last year, and how to refocus on a positive way to see the world. The workshop will include lecture, meditation, storytelling, and movement and will be followed by 7 weeks of 3 Body Qigong practice to create a new positive habit in your daily life.

David has been teaching 3 Body Qigong on Zoom since March 2020 and has created a wonderful community, of folks who took a chance on these classes and found benefit from doing this practice. Here is what some have said:

Now more than ever, we need to keep our immune systems strong. Class One: Introduction to 3 Body Qigong – 4 Week Series of Self-Care

This introductory class will be a prelude to understanding the practice of Qigong in the classes that will follow in this series. In this class, we will address these questions: What is Qigong? What is 3 Body Qigong? How does it help me? Why I should practice it? The class will include some Qigong movements that we will be using in the next 3 classes with an explanation as to how they contribute to your overall physical, mental, and spiritual health. Please bring a mat. For all ages.

Class Two: Strengthening Physical & Energy Bodies (Power up your Dantian)

This class will focus on the importance of our lower dantian (2nd chakra), the foundation for our energy practice. This area is vital to helping ground you emotionally, build power in your lower abdomen (core), and balance your energy body. Discover how to strengthen your body! In addition to our lower dantian work, we will also add some warm-up movements & stretching, practice feeling energy, and meditation. Please bring a mat. For all ages.

Class Three: Improving Energy Flow (Meridian Stretching)

This class will focus on improving the flow of energy in your body. Learn how stretching your upper and lower body will open your meridian channels, allowing the energy to circulate throughout your body more efficiently, making your organs, muscles, and ligaments more supple. This practice is important in boosting the efficiency of your immune system and bringing your mind into a peaceful state. Consider this preventive maintenance for your body and mind. For all ages. We will be standing, seated, and on the floor so please bring a mat.

Class Four: Creating A Daily Practice

We will end this series by putting together a daily practice that best suits your own needs, a practice you can do on your own. We will review all that we have learned, and you will create a Qigong practice for yourself. Our brains are so busy! Work, cell phones, computers, and TV keep them humming all day long. When you are conversing with someone, are you really listening or is your mind wandering off? Maybe you’re already thinking of a response before someone finishes talking. How about listening to yourself? Can you hear your inner voice or are your thoughts and emotions dominating your every moment? Are you aware when you are hearing someone but not listening?
