3 Body Qigong For Spring- Class Description:

FINALLY!  Spring is here, and as we transition into this new season, we will continue our seasonal practice according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. In spring, we focus on the element associated with this time of year, which is wood.

Since we humans are connected to nature, the same wood energy that readies the plants and trees to begin their transition is happening inside of us, too! The energy of wood wants to move outward and get things done. If that energy becomes stuck, the result can be “qi stagnation,” which manifests as anger, irritability, depression, mood swings, poor sleep, migraines, pain, tension, and other symptoms.  And where does that get stuck?  In the organ associated with spring, THE LIVER (more about this in our lecture/practice class).

The 7-week series for Spring will include new movements to help keep our body and emotions grounded, balanced, and harmonized. In addition to our new spring movements, we will continue with our usual set of body tapping, meridian stretching, energy ball practice, and meditation.  This will help us to feel grounded, balanced, peaceful, and in harmony with nature! 3 Body Qigong for Spring is preventive maintenance for the body and mind!

3 Body Qigong Lecture & Practice Class Description:

I will offer a lecture and practice class before we begin our next session. It will focus on learning and practicing the new movements, as well as focusing on some of our standard class movements.  I will explain more about how these movements relate to Traditional Chinese Medicine as a source of balancing and harmonizing your energy. I will also include tips on how best to navigate this season through movements, diet, lifestyle, and other tips to keep you happy and healthy.

What is 3 Body Qigong?

3 Body Qigong is a mind/body practice based in Traditional Chinese Medicine, combining Korean Tao, modern Qigong practices, energy healing practices, and sound/music meditation. It combines body tapping, stretching, breath work, and meditation to improve the flow of energy throughout your body. These movements help increase vitality, flexibility, and power on a physical level, as well as bring one to a more peaceful and relaxed state of mind. I hope you will join us and take the leap. About the Global Transformation

World Tai Chi Day was originally a day to celebrate the myriad benefits of Tai Chi, but it quickly became World Tai Chi"and Chi Kung" Day, recognizing the mutual benefits these Mind Body practices offered ... and then World Tai Chi Day events around the world began to include Meditation, Yoga, Mindfulness Teachers and Groups ... so WorldTaiChiDay.org began to include THE SCIENCE on ALL these 5 major Mind Body practices.  Now, in building the global coalition for this Mind Body Education Resolution ... GTP's founders are now building a worldwide MIND BODY COALITION, bringing Yoga, Meditation, Mindfulness, Tai Chi, and Chi Kung groups and practitioners together as one force supporting global transformation.

Support Mind Body Education for Public Education

Please join in supporting a NON-BINDING United Nations Resolution of the UN General Assembly to recommend Mind Body Education for Public Education, a very realistic goal given that in2014 the UN General Assembly voted in the Resolution creating the INT'L DAY OF YOGA with a record number of co-sponsoring nations (177).  This Resolution was passed to 'advance global health and harmony.' We cite this precedent in our Resolution, because science reveals that introducing 100s of millions of new Meditators, Yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Mindfulness (all proven scientifically) practitioners on the planet would have a profoundly positive social and economic effect.   You can SIGN THE PETITION, and share it widely. Be a healing part of history.

WE NEED 100,000 PETITION SIGNATURES, SO THAT WE CAN TAKE YOUR SOUL FORCE TO THE U.N. GENERAL ASSEMBLY MISSIONS TO GET CO-SPONSORS FOR THE RESOLUTION ....

3 Body Qigong-March into Spring Class Description:

As we March into Spring, we stretch our bodies and wake up from the deep sleep of winter.  Following nature’s cycle, we begin to enter this transitional period of just waking up and getting on the move.  This session will focus on winter and spring movements, preparing us for the explosion of energy and growth that spring brings. BUT…this is a time we can become stuck in between, like we are sleepwalking, physically and emotionally.  It’s also a time when we can become run down and sick.  Our class will focus on shaking off the heaviness of winter and preparing for spring. So, eat well, wake up from winter’s slumber, and practice 3 Body Qigong so you are prepared to awaken and grow come spring!

3 Body Qigong Lecture & Practice Class Description:

I will offer a special instructional class that will focus on breaking down and practicing the new movements for this session, as well as focusing on some of our regular movements.  I will also explain more about how these movements relate to Traditional Chinese Medicine as a source of balancing and harmonizing your energy. 3 BODY QIGONG FOR WINTER - Class Description

Winter is a time we feel like curling up on the couch, slowing down, and hibernating as we follow nature’s cycle. This is the season to store energy and expend less by the gentle meridian stretching of our Qigong practice.

The organs associated with the winter season are our kidneys and bladder.  The kidneys are the powerhouse of the body, supplying reserve energy to any organ running low on Qi. Movement is important to support and balance the energy in your kidneys, but the type of movement and exercise is even more important. Restorative movements like our 3 Body Qigong class will help to build more Qi gently.

All ages are welcome. Please bring a mat as some movements will be on the floor. (Modifications will be offered if you can’t go on the mat).

3 BODY QIGONG FOR FALL - Class Description

As the Fall season arrives, there is a chill in the air, and the leaves begin to turn their beautiful colors before making their way down to the earth. We, like nature, travel through Fall before making our way into the deep sleep of Winter. This is the time of year when many of us get colds, flu, or respiratory issues. Our Fall 7-week seasonal practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) will focus on learning new movements to help balance and harmonize our lungs and large intestines, the organs associated with this season. As always, we will continue our regular, preventive maintenance movements to keep our bodies healthy and our minds peaceful.

**All CLASSES LIVE ON ZOOM AND RECORDED**

If you can't attend the classes or wish to practice more, all classes are recorded and available for one week.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

As we continue our seasonal practice of the 5-element theory of TCM, we begin working with the element of Earth and the organs associated with this season, which are the STOMACH AND SPLEEN. Just as fire burns to ash and feeds that as nutrients to the earth, our stomach and spleen make up our digestive system, ingesting, breaking down food, and transporting nutrients throughout our body. To keep this process balanced and operating well, our late spring practice will include new movements to help facilitate the flow of energy in our stomach and spleen meridian channels. We will also add our usual movements to offer a fully balanced "preventive maintenance" practice.

LECTURE AND PRACTICE CLASS

This instructional class will focus on learning and practicing the new movements for this session and fine-tuning some of our regular movements. I will also explain more about how these movements relate to Traditional Chinese Medicine as a source of balancing and harmonizing your energy. We will talk about how best to navigate this season through movement, diet, lifestyle, and other tips to keep you happy and healthy.

3 BODY QIGONG FOR SUMMER - Class Description

Summertime is upon us!  Time to get out in the sun, in the water, into the forest, and into your heart. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)seasonal practice, fire is the element of summer and the organs we support are the heart and small intestine (and pericardium).

Emotionally, this element is associated with the mind and its stability. The heart is the “seat” of the mind and therefore, its highest expression is love, joy, and happiness.  When imbalanced, we may either lack joy (depression) or have excessive joy (a maniac condition). When the fire element is balanced, sensitivity and expression, true fulfillment and the equilibrium between heart and mind are our greatest rewards.

Physically, when the fire element is balanced, the heart properly governs and circulates the blood and ensures proper assimilation of the beginning breakdown of food in the small intestines.

This is why we will practice movements to balance our heart energy in addition to practicing our usual weekly full-body movements.  Practicing 3 Body Qigong for summer can offer a way to keep your heart energy healthy and balanced, for a peaceful, loving, and joyful summer!

All ages are welcome. Please bring a mat as some movements will be on the floor. (Modifications will be offered if you can’t go on the mat).

*SPECIAL ADDED INSTRUCTIONAL CLASS

If you sign up for the 7-week session, this class is free. Drop-in for $15.  This class will be recorded and available for one week.

3 BODY QIGONG FOR SPRING - Class Description

FINALLY!  Spring is here!  Time to wake up from our winter slumber and follow nature’s path of rebirth and growth. As we follow the 5 Element Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, we begin focusing on our liver and gallbladder and the element of wood. During this season, as all of nature begins to wake up and grow, we may feel the power of earth’s energy throw us out of balance. This can make us feel a bit spacy and overwhelmed and we may feel anger and irritability become more prominent at this time.

During this session, we will practice movements to help keep our body and emotions grounded, balanced, and harmonized through additional movements for our liver and gallbladder as well as focusing on our lower dantian. We will continue with our full-body movements to stay balanced and harmonized, with more attention placed on the new Spring movements.

All ages are welcome. Please bring a mat as some movements will be on the floor. (Modifications will be offered if you can’t go on the mat).

3 BODY QIGONG for WINTER - Class Description

As we settle into winter, we just want to just curl up on the couch and hibernate, but now is the time to begin storing more energy. This winter session will focus on movements to store more energy in the kidneys, the organ associated with the winter season. The kidney stores reserve energy called “pre-natal Qi” which is inherited from your parents. When another organ is low on energy, the kidney sends it an extra Qi boost from this inheritance. The emotion that is associated with the kidneys is fear. If anxiety or fear feels heightened at this time, your body may be trying to tell you that kidney energy is running low or is imbalanced. This class will help balance and harmonize your body's energy. So, join us this winter to keep your body functioning well. Eat well, rest well, and practice 3 Body Qigong. It’s all preventive maintenance for your body!

"I appreciate how David crafts each class. There are some parts that stay the same to move the energy. However, he adds something different to every class. He is mindful of the diversity of the group, and offers other poses when someone might not be able to do one. I also enjoyed how he adds a few minutes of "free movements" and a short meditation towards the end of the class. He always has time for questions at the end of the session."

Re-Discovering Your True Self

Have you ever wondered, IS THIS ALL THERE IS TO THIS LIFE?

Who am I?  What do I really want? When was the last time you asked yourself those questions?  In this workshop, we will move past the idea that we are just physical beings living in this physical world and begin a journey to re-discover the inner world of our true selves.  Our journey will include looking at the outside world, the physical world of our thinking mind and ego, and move toward our inner world, the place of our true self, a place of love, peace, joy, and clarity.  Using lecture, meditation, and sharing, we will pass through experiences and feelings that have been blocking us and holding us back from re-discovering who we really are and what we really want. As you re-discover your true self, you will begin to see the same world from a different view, a place where the clouds have moved away and your true self shines through once again.

Things to bring:  Paper (or notebook) and pen, a handheld mirror, water, Light Lunch or snack (there will be a 30-minute break), Yoga Mat (optional)

This event is being held IN PERSON at Circles of Wisdom, Methuen, MA.

3 BODY QIGONG FOR LATE SUMMER

As we move into late summer, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, we will be focused on our stomach which is most affected by worry, anxiety, or overthinking. Through tapping, meridian stretching, meditation and practicing feeling energy, we will balance and harmonize our body for this time of year which is about grounding our body and mind and balancing our energy. We will also continue our usual weekly full-body movements such as body tapping, meridian stretching, practice feeling energy and music/sound meditation. 3 BODY QIGONG- SUMMER SESSION

Summertime is upon us!  Time to get out in the sun, in the water, into the forest, and into your heart. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the organ we support in summer is our heart.  Did you know that the heart is considered the king of all organs? This means that all the other organs will sacrifice for the Heart. In other words, they will always give their energy to help the heart maintain its balance.   That is why we will practice movements for balancing our heart energy as well as our usual weekly full-body movements.  (preventive maintenance). Practicing 3 Body Qigong for summer can offer you a way to keep your heart energy healthy and balanced, for a peaceful, loving, and joyful summer!

If we support our liver (and all our organs) when they are peaking in each season, we can help maintain a healthy body and peaceful heart/mind.

MANAGING STRESS IN THE MODERN WORLD

Stress has become an epidemic in our culture. Experiencing constant stress has been proven to cause physical and emotional illness as well as a more negative worldview. In this workshop, we will explore where your stress is coming from, how it is affecting you as well as others, how to become aware of the stress you hold, and how to release it.

Through lecture and relaxation techniques centered on meditation and movement, you can begin to release your stress and shift your focus inward to a more peaceful and joyous place. Leave with tools to continue your practice at home. This course is for teens and adults.

Please bring a full water bottle. This workshop is seated with some standing for movements
