Summertime is upon us! Time to get out in the sun, in the water, into the forest, and into your heart. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) seasonal practice, fire is the element of summer and the organs we support are the heart and small intestine (and pericardium).
Emotionally, this element is associated with the mind and its stability. The heart is the “seat” of the mind, and therefore, its highest expression is love, joy, and happiness. When imbalanced, we may either lack joy (depression) or have excessive joy (a manic condition). When the fire element is balanced, the equilibrium between heart and mind is our greatest reward.
Physically, when the fire element is balanced, the heart properly governs and circulates the blood and begins the process of breaking down food in the small intestines.
This is why we will practice specific movements for balancing our heart energy as well as other movements, to offer a full body & mind preventive maintenance class. Practicing 3 Body Qigong for summer can offer a way to keep your heart energy healthy and balanced, for a peaceful, loving, and joyful summer!
