Theory of Expectation

An Inspector of Schools in Germany wanted to experiment with the “Theory of Expectation”.

He went to a school and gave the students an instant examination and graded them from 0-100, Their grades were kept secret from the students. Out of all students, three students got only 30% correct, whereas all other students got more than 50% correct. The Inspector of Schools called these below-average students on the stage, gave them awards, and told them that they had obtained a 70%, which was the highest in the class. The Inspector also told these students that he would have them take their test again after three months, and this time, he expects them to obtain 90% marks.

Contrary to the opinion of their class teacher, those below-average students were able to obtain a 90% in their next examination.

Moral: Psychologists say, and this story proves the Theory of Expectation: “that when we expect a miraculous achievement and give anybody a challenge and encourage him or her, they are most likely come up to that expectation”. The moment we accept a challenge and set higher goals for us, our energy level increases, mood is elevated and it becomes possible for us to achieve the higher goal.

“Goal and Will Power, when properly combined, make an irresistible pair”.
